Los Angeles Coda Co-Dependents Ananomous - Co-Dependents Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women whose common purpose is to develop healthy relationships.  Overcome the dilemmas of the conflicts in our relationships and our childhoods. Codependence is a  deeply-rooted, compulsive behavior and that it is born out of our sometimes moderately, sometimes extremely dysfunctional family systems.  Using others--our mates, our friends, and even our children--as our sole source of identity, value, and well-being and as a way of trying to restore within us the emotional losses from our childhoods.  Twelve Steps and principles.  Free the emotional bonds of our past and the compulsive control of our present

Power to let go Hayden v. Consolidated Mining

the lessee was only bound to do and could only recover for doing that which it was in his power to do. Surely they must have gathered from this charge that, if the injuries were permanent and irreparable, he was released from performing impossibilities by the law, which was part and parcel of his covenant.

Calif. Civil Code 3531.  The law never requires impossibilities.

Clutter's Anonymous

Clutter is anything we don't need, want, or use that takes our time, energy or space, and destroys our serenity. It can be outgrown clothes, obsolete papers, broken toys, disliked gifts, meaningless activity, ancient resentments, or unsatisfying relationships. We may be selective in some areas, but not in others. Objects may be strewn about or wedged into drawers; neatly stacked or stowed in storage.

Our clutter seems to have a life of its own, to multiply without effort on our part. We may feel overwhelmed, controlled by our possessions, doomed to be hopelessly disorganized. No matter how we deal with our clutter, it can be a source of pain and shame to ourselves and to those we live with.

Despite this pain, we fear throwing things out. We think we might need it, fix it, or wear it again. We don't want to be wasteful or ungrateful. We don't know what to keep and what to discard. We don't know how much is enough.

Cholesterol is a waxy, fatlike substance (lipid) that the body needs for many important functions, such as producing new cells. However, if a person's cholesterol levels are too high, he or she will have a greater risk of developing life-threatening diseases, such as coronary artery disease, heart attack, and stroke

Triglycerides

Triglycerides are a type of fat that is found in the blood and in foods. They are the most common type of fat and are a major source of energy.

When you eat, your body uses the calories it needs for quick energy and converts excess calories into triglycerides and stores them in fat cells to use later.

Triglyceride levels are categorized as follows:

bulletBelow 150 milligrams per deciliter (mg/dL) is considered normal.
bullet150 to 199 is borderline-high.
bullet200 to 500 is high.
bulletAbove 500 is very high.

What is osteoporosis?

Osteoporosis is a progressive disease that causes bones to become thin and porous, significantly increasing your risk for vertebrae and hip fractures. Hip fractures often require hospitalization, and vertebral fractures can cause loss of height and severe back pain. Both may lead to permanent disability.

Whether you develop osteoporosis depends on the thickness of your bones early in life, as well as health, diet, and physical activity later in life. See an illustration of a healthy hip versus a hip weakened by osteoporosisClick here to see an illustration.webmd.com.

Low Back Pain

Topic Overview

What is low back pain, and what causes it?

The lower back is an elegant construction of bone, muscle, and ligament. Because the lower back is the hinge between the upper and lower body, it is especially vulnerable to injury when you are lifting, reaching, or twisting. When low back pain strikes, we become acutely aware of just how much we rely on a flexible, strong back. Ironically, most of us don't think of the importance of keeping our back and stomach muscles strong until we have back trouble.

See an illustration of the lower back (lumbosacral region of the spine)Click here to see an illustration..

Up to 85% of all people have low back pain at one time or another. Each year, about 2% of American workers are compensated for disability caused by back pain.1 Low back pain is often triggered by some combination of overuse, muscle strain, or injury to the muscles and ligaments that support the spine. Less commonly, low back pain is caused by illness or spinal deformity.

Back pain can be:

bulletAcute, lasting less than 3 months. Most people gain relief after 4 to 6 weeks of home treatment.
bulletRecurrent, a repeat episode of acute symptoms. Most people have at least one episode of recurrent low back pain.
bulletChronic, lasting longer than 3 months.

AB 2012 Orthotic and Prosthetic Coverage Section 10123.7 of the Insurance Code

S

Before AB 2012, health plans and insurers were required to offer group coverage for orthotic and prosthetic devices under terms agreed upon between the employer and the health plan or insurer. AB 2012 revised the existing "mandate to offer" to stipulate that this coverage may be subject only to maximums and limitations on coverage that apply to the plan’s basic health care services. The new provision is effective July 1, 2007.
