There are now several plans available for Individuals, Families and Employer Groups, who might have a problem or pre-existing condition, which in the past may have prevented them from getting medical coverage. COBRA is for those on group plans who lose their employment or for their dependents and provides coverage for 18 or 36 months, see also Cal Cobra. HIPAA is basically for those whose 18 or 36 months of COBRA have expired and unfortunately don't qualify for coverage in the regular marketplace. MR. MIP provides coverage if you have been denied healthcare coverage from an individual carrier, namely for medical issues. You must have completed an application with a regular plan and submit the denial letter with your Mr. Mip application.
