The Americans With Disabilities Act gives full protection to students who have suffered from drug addiction or alcoholism in the past (not using currently). Information on college policy and procedures to be used when working with these students is avail able to all faculty. Specific accommodations must be determined on a case by case basis.

5350.  A conservator of the person, of the estate, or of the person and the estate may be appointed for any person who is gravely disabled as a result of mental disorder or impairment by chronic alcoholism.

California Drug Courts Pasadena Dept. G.  The Commissioner in that department is truly a caring and compassionate Lady and Jurist. 

One recent client should have gone to state prison, and she had said so before, and that he would if he failed out of the program again.   He did fail, then split and  jumped bail. He got caught.  Maybe it was my eloquent plea, but it was really her not wanting to give up on him.  A really smart talented young adult who spiraled out of control when a parent died.  He's now in county awaiting a bed at Impact in Pasadena, one of the best toughest, but best programs  I'm betting he makes it and he will go to thank her after its all said and done.   Marc Legget, Esq.
